How to Become a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator (LCCE)
Lamaze offers two routes to certification, depending on your background and experience.

Option 1: Standard Pathway (Most Common)
Just complete two steps (in any order) before applying to take the exam:

Option 2: Experienced Educator or Birth Worker Pathway
Already teaching childbirth classes or working as a midwife?
You may substitute the requirements listed above with your documented experience or prior training.
Instead of purchasing the Learning Guide, you may:

- Document 60 hours of childbirth education teaching in the past three (3) years
- Complete an approved formal course on teaching childbirth education

Important Notes
- All requirements must be completed within three (3) years of applying to take the exam.
- A Lamaze-Accredited Seminar can only complete one requirement (not both).
Membership
Membership is not required for certification; however, joining Lamaze gives you access to the following resources:

All certified Lamaze Childbirth Educators are automatically granted membership for the duration of their active credential.
