Whether you're new to childbirth education or eager to learn from experienced Lamaze educators, a Lamaze Childbirth Educator Seminar is the perfect place to begin! These seminars are offered through Lamaze-Accredited Childbirth Educator Programs, with each program setting its own eligibility criteria and requirements for successful completion.
Earn Contact Hours
In addition to top-notch career preparation, you’ll earn 20 or more Lamaze contact hours that count towards certification eligibility, as well as 20 or more continuing nursing education credits from the California Board of Registered Nursing (CABRN).
What You’ll Learn
Lamaze Childbirth Educator Seminars teach you how to:
- Design, teach, and evaluate a Lamaze course that builds confidence in giving birth.
- Promote pregnancy as a normal, healthy process that impacts families deeply.
- Guide families in using strategies for a safe pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, and early parenting.
- Educate families on how complications and interventions affect labor and birth.
- Develop a curriculum based on the Lamaze Six Healthy Birth Practices.
- Create engaging activities for your childbirth education classes.
- Prepare for the Lamaze Certification Exam to become a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator (LCCE).
In addition to in-seminar activities, the following activities are either required or strongly recommended as part of your participation in a Lamaze Childbirth Educator Seminar:
- Complete independent study from the Lamaze Learning Guide and core reading
- Observe births
- Observe Lamaze classes
- Complete a curriculum design for Lamaze childbirth classes
- Student-teach Lamaze classes
