An Important Message from Lamaze International President
Every day of this pandemic, it feels like the earth shifts a little bit on its axis and we are all required to incorporate new complexities into our daily lives. Above all, we hope that you and your families are well and healthy during this time of great uncertainty.
Lamaze leadership has been monitoring the COVID-19 situation carefully and is aware that public health concerns create a need for online and virtual classes, teaching strategies, and resources. In order to assist you as you adapt to this ever-changing environment, we will be sharing a variety of tips and resources as well as newly developed educational tools. We encourage you to subscribe to our Connecting the Dots blog, if you haven’t done so already, and review Lamaze’s latest post – Tips for Teaching Virtual Classes. We hope that Lamaze can be a resource for you during this time when all of us are considering how to live and work differently.

Lamaze Educators are unquestionably some of the most creative, adaptable and determined professionals around, and each of you has probably found teaching tools and strategies which work well in your area. If you are willing to share your wisdom in a greater community effort, please visit the Lamaze Childbirth Professionals Facebook page (@LamazeProfessionals) and share with others what has been working for you. Regular Facebook Live sessions will be offered to support you through this fluid situation. You may also request to join our private group of Lamaze Childbirth Professionals. When requesting to join, please include the email address associated with your Lamaze membership so that we can easily verify your account. As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us directly at info@lamaze.org.
Plans for the May Childbirth Education Advocacy Summit are evolving. In order to protect public health, the Lamaze Board of Directors has decided to transition much of its continuing education content from in-person sessions to virtual offerings held throughout the year. While we will not be able to visit Capitol Hill, continuing education and legislative updates will be components of the virtual content offered. Lamaze staff is working hard to finalize the details of these programmatic changes, so stay tuned for more information as it becomes available in the coming weeks.
We know that each of you will adapt to this situation differently depending upon where you are in the world. You can find more specific guidance through the Centers for Disease Control and the World Health Organization, in addition to your local government agencies for information specific to your area.
We are all in this together, and together we will get through this stronger.
Wishing you all the best,
Christen Sadler
