Join Australia’s only Lamaze International-accredited Childbirth Educator Training Program in a new hybrid format that combines the connection and hands-on learning of face-to-face training with the flexibility of live online learning.

The five-day program will run across five consecutive Fridays, with three days held in person in Melbourne and two days delivered live online:

This comprehensive and highly interactive program is designed to prepare aspiring childbirth educators to provide engaging, evidence-based education to expectant parents.

The training explores the knowledge, skills and competencies required to become an effective childbirth educator, with a strong emphasis on evidence-based maternity care, the Lamaze Healthy Birth Practices, adult learning and facilitation skills, curriculum development, trauma-informed practice, cultural safety, informed decision-making, and creative approaches to teaching pregnancy, labour, birth and early parenthood.

The program is facilitated by Tanya Cawthorne, MWomenChldH, LCCE, FACCE, Past President of Lamaze International, co-founder of Lamaze Australia and an experienced Lamaze educator trainer. Tanya has been training childbirth educators for more than a decade, with more than 300 students completing her training programs in Australia and internationally.

Support continues beyond the five training days, with graduates having access to ongoing mentoring, monthly online study and discussion sessions, curriculum development support and guidance as they work towards Lamaze certification.

Completion of this Lamaze-accredited training seminar forms part of the pathway towards earning the internationally recognised Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator (LCCE) credential.
