Meet with a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist for Help with Pregnancy Nutrition
By: Cara Terreri | 0 Comments
Throughout the month, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is sharing tips to improve nutrition in recognition of National Nutrition Month. This week, it's all about support -- from an RDN, that is. An RDN, or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, is a food and nutrition expert who translates the science of nutrition into personalized and practical solutions for a healthy lifestyle. An RDN has degrees in nutrition, dietetics, public health or a related field from a college or university, has completed an internship, passed an examination, and maintains continuing education.
Here's what EatRight has to say about finding and working with a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist:
- An RDN gives you personalized nutrition advice to meet your goals, including those specific to pregnancy and postpartum.
- Find an RDN by talking to your doctor, midwife, or by visiting EatRight and clicking on "Find an Expert."
- An RDN will work to understand your current lifestyle, including challenges and opportunities, in order to determine best practices for habit changes.
- RDNs can meet you in a variety of settings, including virtually.
- Search for an RDN who has experience with pregnancy and postpartum nutrition, along with any other unique health requirements.
- An RDN helps you cut through the influx of confusing nutrition advice to create a sound and easy-to-follow tailored plan.
- An RDN can help you manage chronic conditions with dietary changes, as well as teach you how to read food labels, and navigate allergies or sensitivities.
