Great Expectations: Liz @ 24 Weeks

There are some things in life that become boring and rudimentary after experiencing them several times. Feeling a baby squirm around inside my body is definitely not one of them. One might think that having felt that amazing feeling several times before would make it less exciting, but I find myself totally fascinated by the whole process, once again. I just can't get enough of those little pokes, wiggles, and hiccups, and find myself staring at my belly more often than not, waiting to see that nugget moving around. Those movements are providing a great distraction for me from the aches and pains that are starting to set in as I near the end of my second trimester (I can't believe I'm that far along already!). The veins in my legs are starting to get uncomfortable and my lower back is feeling the strain of my expanding belly. My nausea has made an appearance again, mostly at night, and my heartburn is ridiculous, to say the least. I've also had a few crabby, hormonal days too.Yoga is helping the body aches, along with giving me some much-needed "me time." I'm okay with wanting to vomit, knowing it's the increasing hormone levels, and chewing gum keeps the heartburn under control. I even managed not to punch the UPS lady when she commented, "Mmm, somebody's awfully pregnant. Are you sure it's not twins?"In the end, feeling this little baby moving, playing, and thriving makes it all worth it, and no pregnancy woe or rude delivery person can change that.
