Checking in with NPR's The Baby Project

Earlier this spring, National Public Radio (NPR) posted a call for pregnant women who were due in the summer to participate in "The Baby Project," a special project that would document the last month of pregnancy leading up to birth. The Baby Project is now following 9 women, each with a different story and background.

The stories, posted on the NPR blog at http://www.npr.org/blogs/babyproject/, began in June and since then, we've learned about a woman who is pregnant for the first time with twins after having adopted two boys because of infertility; a woman whose husband just deployed to Iraq; another woman who is dealing with bedrest; a woman who is planning a home birth and women who are planning hospital births; and a woman who is expecting her first child with her female partner. Just last week, the second and third babies of the group were born (the first was born preterm, near the end of June).

If you haven't already, check in with the women of The Baby Project. Whether you're pregnant or not, the collection of stories are enlightening and engaging and present a unique snapshot of women in pregnancy.
