Black Mamas: Your Input Is Needed to Inform & Improve Care
By: Cara Terreri, LCCE, CD(DONA) | 0 Comments
We've shared before the current, troubling issues Black families facing when it comes to receiving quality and equal care during pregnancy, birth, postpartum, breastfeeding, and early parenthood. In an effort to improve resources, the Black Mamas Matter Alliance, in collaboration with the Healthy Families Project, is conducting a national online survey to learn about Black women's maternal care experiences, and access to health services.
The results of this online survey will be shared in a report format with the Healthy Families Project. It will be used to inform their internal decision-making about upcoming healthcare improvement initiatives. The results of this survey will NOT be used for peer reviewed publications.
This survey is anonymous and completely voluntary. It should take about 10 minutes of your time. The survey ends on Friday, June 15, 2018. Please contribute your answers and/or share it widely!
The Black Mamas Matter Alliance (BMMA) is a Black women-led cross-sectoral alliance that centers Black mamas leadership to advocate, drive research, build power, and shift culture for Black maternal health, rights, and justice. Their vision is a world where Black mamas have the rights, respect, and resources to thrive before, during, and after pregnancy. BMMA provides technical assistance and training to grow a network of Black women leaders, and works to gather leaders in the larger conversation. They have created the Black Mamas Matter Toolkit, a resource for advocates concerned about the health and well being of Black women and girls.
The Healthy Families Project is an initiative available in cities across the United States that works to improve health outcomes for children and families who are under-resourced and experiencing stressful life situations. The program is voluntary and provides a variety of services, support, and education to families in their home.
