Happy Halloween! If you're pregnant on Halloween, do you consider it a dreadful trick or a sweet treat? Sure, you may not be able to celebrate all hours of the night (thanks to energy dips and swollen feet) or sip spiked punch, but there are plenty of reasons to see the orange-and-black lining. Don't believe me? Check out our trick-or-treat guide made specifically for enjoying Halloween when you're pregnant.
TRICK?
You're 494 weeks pregnant; getting dressed up and going to a party or hobbling door-to-door for candy does not sound like fun.
TREAT!
Dancing, walking, standing -- essentially any form of active movement can help start labor as well as get your baby into a better position for labor and birth. Get out there and get moving, even if it's just for an hour. Who knows, you may end up with a November 1st baby!
TRICK?
With the horrors of first trimester nausea in full swing, forget the candy and festivities -- you have a date with ginger ale and crackers!
TREAT!
Hard candy, which you can find in mass quantities and flavors on Halloween, can help curb nausea. Dig through the candy you're supposed to be dishing out to find what works best for you. Lemon, peppermint, cinnamon, and sour candies often help combat nausea.
TRICK?
You just got invited to a Halloween party and last year's "sexy witch" costume doesn't exactly fit.
TREAT!
Last minute pregnant costume? No problem! Nothing a little body paint can't fix. Wear a form-fitted shirt, lift it above your belly, and get to painting! Think of all the round (or round-ish) things you can paint on your belly -- pumpkin, basketball, fish bowl, avocado, gumball machine, baseball, beach ball, Pokemon, Pac Man, etc. Grab your partner or a friend to get to the harder to reach spots.
TRICK?
You're so. dang. tired. that you consider pretending Halloween has been cancelled and going to bed early.
TREAT!
There's plenty of fun to be had with a stay-at-home Halloween. Hand out candy to cute little neighborhood kids and hit the sack by 9 for much-needed sleep. Bonus: leftover candy!
TRICK?
No one knows you're pregnant yet (and you're not ready to share), but everyone will wonder why you aren't enjoying the mulled wine or spiked cider at the party.
TREAT!
BYOM - otherwise known as bring-your-own-mocktail. There are some seriously delicious alcohol-free drink recipes these days. Find yourself a fall-inspired mocktail, like this ginger-cinnamon apple cider fake-tini.
What trick will you turn into a treat this Halloween holiday?
