The grief of losing a child during pregnancy or after birth runs deep and hard for the person who is or was pregnant. It is important to also recognize that the nonpregnant person also has experienced a loss & has to deal with their own grief, as well as supporting the emotions of their partner.

The sad fact is that too many families are affected by a pregnancy loss, stillbirth or early infant loss. The grief when a loss occurs has no bounds and remains significant and deep, even if there are future children that join the family after a loss has occurred.

October is recognized as ICAN Accreta Awareness Month by the International Cesarean Awareness Network. Placenta accreta occurs when the placenta is abnormally attached to the uterus and has trouble detaching after delivery.
