My babies and grandbabies were born more easily and safely with what I learned in my first two Lamaze classes. Why not donate? The benefits to me and future generations are worth sustaining. The process of donation is easier with technology and respectful of my finances. I can donate a smaller amount monthly that adds up to a respectable donation without causing me anxiety to Lamaze that has given me so much. I hope you’ll consider volunteering and donating and take advantage of all that Lamaze has to offer. You’re the next jewel in our tribe.

April’s Brilliant Activities for Birth Educators serves two purposes! We honor and recognize Cesarean Awareness Month and also share an opportunity to support those educators who are teaching virtually during the COVID-19 global pandemic. When we are teaching virtually, as in person classes are not safe to hold currently, you can use a virtual background behind you that supplements the topic you are covering. In the case of cesareans, you can use an operating room with a baby warmer.

April 11th-17th is Black Maternal Health Week. Due to both historical and ongoing racism, inequities and oppression, outcomes for Black parents and babies is significantly worse than for their non-Black peers. Black parents and their families should be centered and supported as they grow their families. They should be lifted up and receive respectful, culturally appropriate and evidence-based care. Perinatal professionals can be a resource for Black families, helping them to feel informed, supporting their decisions and offering information that can be used during their pregnancy, birth and early parenting time.
